Ann Arbor Center for the Family provides counseling, therapy, and mediation for individuals (adults, children, adolescents), couples, and families.


Brian Ashin, LMSW
        Clinical social worker whose general adult practice includes working with individuals, couples, and groups. As a certified sex therapist, provides treatment for issues related to sexuality and sexual health. (Accepts some insurances)

Manal Assi, M.D.
        Child and adult psychiatrist interested in the psychiatric evaluation and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults; and dedicated to help promote the well being of the individual and the family. (Participates with BCBS Community Blue [BCBS PPO])

Fernando Colón, Ph.D.
        Licensed clinical psychologist whose practice includes individuals, couples, and families. He has particular interests in cultural diversity and spirituality.

Kate Drinkwater, LMSW
        Clinical social worker whose practice includes children, families, adults and special interest in adolescents and couples. Her focus is helping clients to accept and manage their own and others' limitations and be able to problem solve and negotiate solutions.(Accepts some insurances)

Douglas Ensor, Ph.D.
        Licensed psychologist whose interests include the relationship between school and family problems, and families with members who have disabilities or chronic medical disorders. He also is a consultant and trainer to a number of agencies on these issues.(Participates with BCBS Community Blue [BCBS PPO], BCBS Traditional, MESSA, Magellan, and Aetna)

Paul Estenson, Ph.D.
        Licensed clinical psychologist whose practice includes individual, couples, and family therapy. Particular interests include issues related to compulsive/addictive behaviors, chronic illness, and older adults. He has had extensive experience with hospital treatment of substance abuse and psychiatric problems and with consultation to both treatment settings and schools.Participates with BCBS Community Blue [BCBS PPO], BCBS Traditional, MESSA, and Aetna)

Carrie Hatcher-Kay, Ph.D.
        Licensed clinical psychologist whose general practice includes therapy with children, families, adults, and groups. Special interests include depression, anxiety, spirituality,children and families adjusting to divorce or bereavement, and overeating. She is trained in EMDR as well as psychodynamic, family systems, CBT, and interpersonal psychotherapy modalities. She has published in the area of spirituality and its relationship to well-being and in the area of depression in youth. (Participates with BCBS PPO / Community Blue)


Lori Lichtman, Psy.D.
        Licensed clinical psychologist whose practice includes children, adolescents, adults, couples, parents and families. Her special interests include working with families with a deaf member, developing and fostering parent-child relationships, developing relaxation and coping skills for children, and facilitating client's prenatal and postpartum adjustment. (Participates with BCBS Community Blue)

Eileen Mollen, Ph.D.
        Licensed clinical psychologist whose general practice includes therapy with children, adolescents, and adults. She has extensive experience with adherence and coping with chronic medical conditions; working with all family members when a parent has a medical condition; and bereavement work. She is also interested in a range of therapy issues with children and adolescents as well as working with parents of young children. (Participates with BCBS Community Blue [BCBS PPO] and BCBS Traditional)

Andrew Orosan-Weine, Ph.D.
        Licensed psychologist whose practice includes children, adolescents, parents, families, and adults. His ways of working draw from cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and psychodynamic orientations. He often aims to foster coping and communication skills among clients of any age. With children and adolescents, he utilizes play therapy. With families or individuals, he helps explore and rework patterns of behavior in one's current, original, and extended families. He is co-author of Helping Transfer Children: Strategies for Educational and Social Readjustment (Jossey-Bass, 1992). (Participates with BCBS MI, MESSA, and BCBS PPO / Community Blue)

Ellen Barahal Taylor, Ph.D.
        Licensed psychologist whose practice includes the treatment of children, adolescents, adults and families. Her clinical interests include: temperamentally “difficult” children; parent/child conflicts; the evaluation and diagnosis of developmental and learning problems; school adjustment; depression and the impact of divorce on families. Along with her clinical practice, Dr. Taylor is trained in divorce mediation and works with families to mediate divorce related issues.(Participates with BCBS Community Blue [BCBS PPO], BCBS Traditional, and MESSA)

W. Craig Washington, Jr., MD
        Psychiatrist whose practice includes the psychiatric evaluation and treatment of adults. Special interests include anxiety disorders and difficult to treat depression. Treatment modalities include cognitive-behavioral therapy and psychopharmacology. (Participates with BCBS)

Mary Whiteside, Ph.D.
        A licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience. Her practice includes therapy with families, couples, and individuals; divorce mediation and mediation of post-divorce disputes; and consultation with families in family businesses. She is a Practitioner Member of the Association for Conflict Resolution and has a Certificate in Family Business Advising with Fellow Status from the Family Firm Institute. She has published extensively in the areas of divorce, remarriage, and family-owned businesses (Learn more about or order How Families Work Together).
