Kate Drinkwater, LMSW

Kate Drinkwater earned her Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 1984.  She worked for Catholic Social Services providing in-home care for at-risk families prior to joining the Outpatient Therapy team at Chelsea Community Hospital.  Kate became an affiliate at Ann Arbor Center for the Family in 2000.

Ms. Drinkwater provides treatment for children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples.  Her treatment approach weaves together family systems, play therapy, cognitive and behavioral, psychodynamic, and developmental theories.  Kate has special interest in treating children and adults with anxieties and traumas employing the collective approaches mentioned above, as well as EMDR.

Ms. Drinkwater begins treatment with meeting clients with their stated needs.  Therapy includes helping clients to accept their own and others’ limitations and strengths.  Through this process, clients recognize their own choices and can begin to actualize their full potential as an individualized and whole person.

Ms. Drinkwater is able to bill many insurances ( as non-participating), including UHC, MESSA, UBH, American Community, Cigna and Aetna. She is non-par with BCBS of Michigan.
