Kenya Alexander, M.D.
Dr. Kenya Alexander is a board certified psychiatrist with the American Board for Psychiatry and Neurology. She completed her residency training in adult psychiatry at University of Michigan. She also continued her training at University of Michigan in their child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship program. Dr. Alexander returned to the Detroit area to work with the Behavioral Health Services at Henry Ford Health System where she primarily worked with children and their families in the outpatient clinic. During this time, she also had the opportunity to do some community work with the Pediatric Department at Henry Ford Health System by working in their school-based and community health program. Since then, Dr. Alexander has recently affiliated with the Ann Arbor Center for the Family where she sees children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Alexander is also a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists (AACAP).
Dr. Alexander has a comprehensive approach to evaluating and treating her patients by taking time to address not only the presenting symptoms but also the contributing factors to their presentation, such as home life, school/work environment, primary relationships, and cultural/religious concerns. She also has a strong interest in promoting psycho-education of her patients as it relates to their various diagnoses and options for treatment. Her general practice consists of initial psychiatric evaluations, medication consultations, medication management, and psychotherapy.
