Naomi Alcaine, Ph.D.

Dr. Naomi Alcaine is a fully licensed clinical psychologist who has been practicing since 2003. She received her doctorate from Penn State University, interned at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center), and completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Weill Cornell Medical College).

Dr. Alcaine established her private practice in Michigan in 2006, after moving back to her hometown of Ann Arbor. Prior, she had a private practice in Mount Kisco, NY and was a Clinical Instructor of Psychology at Weill Cornell Medical College. She became affiliated with Ann Arbor Center for the Family in 2011. In the past, she was a Clinical Supervisor at University of Michigan's University Center for the Child and Family.

At the Center, Dr. Alcaine provides psychotherapy and neuropsychological testing. Therapy is provided for individual adults as well as children/adolescents and their families. When working with adults in therapy, Dr. Alcaine adopts an eclectic approach that incorporates techniques to deal with current challenges as well as increase understanding of how problematic patterns have developed. With children and teenagers, she is a therapist who emphasizes work with families as well, out of her belief that children and teens can blossom best with the help of strong and loving families.

Neuropsychological testing is a specialized evaluation to determine if an individual has a learning disability, attention disorder, or other subtle cognitive issue that may impact personal behavior and well-being or academic performance. Through testing, Dr. Alcaine can provide a thorough profile of cognitive strengths and difficulties, as well as recommendations about how to best help.  Dr. Alcaine also specializes in determining whether academic difficulties are related to cognitive versus emotional difficulties, or some combination of the two. For more information, please see the Neuropsychological Testing webpage.

Dr. Alcaine participates with BCBS PPO and BCBS Traditional. Other clients are provided services on a private pay basis. Dr. Alcaine can provide you with an itemized statement to submit to your insurance company or FSA coordinator so that they can reimburse you directly for services.
