Miea Moon, Ph.D.

Miea Moon is a fully licensed clinical psychologist. She earned her doctorate from the University of Windsor in Canada, where she received extensive training in multiple psychotherapy approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), psychodynamic therapy and psychotherapy integration. She completed her internship at Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, and the University of Alberta Hospital. She received post-doctoral training at Michigan Headache & Neurological Institute (MHNI), a multidisciplinary pain treatment specialty center in Ann Arbor, where she subsequently worked as a staff psychologist in the Behavioral Medicine Division. She is the founder of Moon Wellness Group PLLC, a psychotherapy and wellness consulting practice affiliated with Ann Arbor Center for the Family.

Dr. Moon has provided individual and group treatment for adults and adolescents with a variety of psychological and physical health concerns, including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, trauma, chronic pain, insomnia, family/relationship stress, and adjustment to life transitions and stressful events. She has enjoyed practicing in a variety of settings (hospital, rehabilitation, community mental health, substance abuse, university counseling, private practice) with individuals of socially and culturally diverse backgrounds.

Dr. Moon is committed to lifelong learning about new evidence-based ways to improve health and wellness and understanding the interaction between physical and psychological health. She has published research on the mental health of socially and culturally diverse populations and enjoys participating in ongoing education and training to continuously enhance her work with her clients.

Dr. Moon is passionate about supporting and empowering her clients to not only improve their physical and psychological health, but to explore ways to live a more fulfilling and satisfying life. She believes that all her clients have an innate capacity to heal and grow when provided with the optimal therapeutic space to access and explore their unique strengths, wisdom and insights. She strives to create a therapeutic space that is safe, warm, and supportive, and for her clients to feel deeply seen, known, and understood. She takes a collaborative and integrative approach where psychotherapy is uniquely tailored based on her clients’ needs and goals.

Dr. Moon participates with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and can provide documentation for her clients as an out-of-network provider for other insurance companies.
